Before Your Session
Your beauty and styling prep guide

Let's begin with the part that matters most: you do not need to arrive camera-ready. You do not need to be an expert in your own face, and you certainly do not need to attempt anything ambitious the night before. Our artistry team handles professional hair and make-up on the day, and direction throughout the session, so the craft is genuinely ours to carry.
What follows is not a list of demands. It is a gentle guide to the small things that help, the things you can safely ignore, and how to walk in feeling calm. Think of it as a way to take a few decisions off your plate, not add to them.
The week before: skin
Good skin on the day comes from kindness in the days before, not heroics.
- Hydrate, properly. Skin that is well watered photographs softer and more luminous. Start a few days ahead, not the morning of. - Keep your routine familiar. Stick to the products your skin already knows. The week of your session is not the week to try a new acid, a strong retinol, or a treatment you have never used. - Skip anything aggressive. No new peels, no first-time facials, no extractions in the final few days. If you love a facial, book it for a week or so out, never the day before. - Sleep is the real serum. Two or three good nights in the run-up do more for your skin than almost anything you can buy.
Hair
Our team styles your hair on the day, so your only job is to give them a good canvas.
- Wash the day before, not the morning of. Day-old hair holds a style far better than freshly washed hair. One day of natural texture is the sweet spot for most hair types. - Hold any big changes. If you are thinking of a fresh colour or a cut, do it a week or two ahead so it has settled, never the day before. - Mention extensions or specifics. If you wear extensions, have a fringe, or have a way you love your hair to sit, tell us at your consultation so the look is planned around you.
Nails and the small details
These are the quiet finishing touches that show up more than you would think.
- Tidy nails photograph beautifully. Hands feature in more portraits than women expect. A simple manicure in a neutral or classic shade is ideal. Bold or chipped polish tends to pull the eye. - Sort the practical bits in advance. Threading, brows or any waxing are best done two or three days ahead, so any redness has fully calmed. - Bring the everyday things you love. A signature ring, a favourite scent, the earrings you always reach for. These details are part of you, and they belong in the frame.
What we handle, and what you can let go of
This is the part to read twice, because it is where the relief lives.
On the day, our artistry team takes care of professional hair and make-up, styled to look like you at your most radiant rather than someone else entirely. We direct every part of the session, so you never have to wonder how to stand, where to look, or what to do with your hands. The expertise is ours. You simply get to show up.
So you can safely let go of:
- Attempting your own make-up "just in case." Come with a clean, moisturised face and we build from there. - Researching poses or rehearsing expressions in the mirror. Real direction on the day works far better than anything rehearsed. - Any worry that you are not photogenic. There is no such thing here, only good light, good guidance, and a team whose whole job is to find you in the frame.
How to arrive calm
The women who love their images most are almost always the ones who arrived relaxed. A little planning makes that easy.
- Give yourself a soft morning. Eat something, drink water, leave earlier than you need to. Arriving flustered is the one thing worth avoiding. - Wear something comfortable to travel in. Save your looks for the studio; arrive in whatever feels easy. - Bring your looks on hangers, plus the piece you almost left behind. That hesitant choice is often the one that sings. - Trust the process. You have chosen to do something generous for yourself. The hard part, deciding to be here, is already done.
You do not have to perfect anything. You simply have to arrive as you are, and let us take care of the rest.
If you have not yet booked, or you would like to talk through your looks and any questions, your consultation is the perfect place to start. Apply for your Body & Soul Experience, and we will plan the day around you.
